I'm working in Tier-2 (ICT) visa category, and spouse is in dependant visa (eligible to study/work). She is a qualified Company Secretary, acknowledged by ICSI India. Currently in London, preparing for ICSA UK Corporate Secretarial exam June/2020 session.

Is anybody aware of any internship/training programmes or secretarial assistant jobs in London?

Please advise how to kick start.

  • A "Company Secretary" is a senior management role in a company (only slightly lower status than a board member), "secretarial assistant" is a pretty lowly position dealing with filing, fetching cups of coffee, answering the phone etc. Which is your wife looking for? – Martin Bonner supports Monica Dec 2 '19 at 15:32

Incidentally, I think this is only marginally on-topic. It basically boils down to "where can I(she) get a job". – Martin Bonner supports Monica Dec 2 '19 at 15:33
  • To start with "secretarial assistant", though I don't agree on the "fetching cups of coffee" point. I'm not looking for a job for now - will take months/years to get hold of the Company Law and cases, and UK market and filing and governance aspects etc... and then later may be go higher. – ranit.b Dec 2 '19 at 16:25
  • I mentioned internship/trainee positions because those are the roles where the core (hands-on) work can be learnt best. A good exposure and experience in that will definitely kick-start career in that work. Thanks! – ranit.b Dec 2 '19 at 16:30
  • Have you looked at icsa.org.uk/jobs/alljobs/company-secretarial-assistant/…? – Traveller Dec 2 '19 at 21:30
