Jul 12, 2014 at 11:38 comment added SztupY @StrongBad: based on the mails I've already sent to some NHS bodies they were really curious why the charges were made in the first place. At no point did they say that I won't be able to get the money back. Also NHS has some forms and procedures on how to claim your money back for services that are not free to anyone (like prescription costs, dental care, etc.), so probably they can handle this case as well

Jul 11, 2014 at 20:44 comment added StrongBad Ummm, what makes you think you can claim your money back?
Jul 11, 2014 at 16:49 comment added SztupY @Gagravarr: this was a walk-in centre for a work-related injury, that should have been free in any case (which was also confirmed in an email I've sent to NHS England to sort this issue out. The resolution is still pending though). I actually also did have a similar case earlier, before I have registered at a GP and they didn't complain that I didn't have a GP.
Jul 11, 2014 at 16:24 comment added Gagravarr Not being registered with a GP is problematic, as quite a few services are normally only accessed via a GP referral, and some services get charged back to "your" commissioning group, with "your" determined based on who your GP is. That doesn't help with your friend's problem, but tell them to get registered ASAP to hopefully avoid future problems
Jul 11, 2014 at 16:06 comment added SztupY @Gagravarr: the person who had this issues was not yet registered at a GP, but had a valid NI number and an UK issued EHIC card. They didn't want to accept the latter, as it was issued in the UK
Jul 11, 2014 at 16:03 comment added Gagravarr Are you registered with a GP where you live in the UK?
